Born and raised in London, Sidney completed his three-year LLB (Hons) in Law with University of London whilst working for a private wealth management company in Hong Kong. In 2007 Sidney received an academic award from the University of London. Sidney was one of the top students in his class and was ranked 1st out of 953 students worldwide in his first academic year, 4th out of 802 students in his second year and 4th out of 532 students in his final year. Sidney graduated in June 2009 and received his degree with upper second class honours.
After completing his LLB, Sidney attended Boston University School of Law to read for his masters in law. Boston University School of Law awarded Sidney the title LLM scholar for his academic excellence. Sidney graduated from Boston University School of Law with the degree of LLM in American Law in May 2010. His GPA was 3.78 in the first semester and he graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.56. Sidney pursued a diverse range of subjects including Islamic law, CIA's National Clandestine Service, private equity and public international law. Sidney has written and published a number of articles, papers and book chapters on a broad range of topics, including islamic finance, terrorist financing and the role of the United Nations in the Rwandan genocide of 1994. Sidney completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws at The University of Hong Kong ("HKU") in June 2011. During his time at HKU, Sidney was part of the HKU moot court team that competed at the 6th International Commercial Mediation competition in Paris. The team was awarded the Best Opening Statement out of the 57 teams in the competition. In terms of legal work experience, Sidney has completed a number of internships with leading solicitors and barristers in Hong Kong and as a judicial marshal at the Hong Kong Court of Appeal.

Sidney commenced pupillage in Hong Kong in July 2011. Sidney was awarded the Middle Temple Advocacy Scholarship in November 2011 and was admitted as a barrister of the High Court of Hong Kong in February 2012.
Sidney has over 17 years experience in private banking and wealth management, and has clients in all the major finance centres, including Tokyo, New York, Singapore, London and Hong Kong. Sidney has worked for numerous international companies and banks and held many senior roles. These include senior international wealth manager at ING, private banker at Bank of Bermuda and associate partner at St. James’s Place. Sidney also has a BSc in physics from the University of Durham.
Sidney commenced practicing as a barrister-at-law with Garden Chambers in Hong Kong.
Outside of work Sidney volunteers at an almshouse and is an unpaid trustee for a small international development charity that distributes renewable energy solar lights in sub-Saharan Africa.
Sidney is a keen sportsman and regularly play rackets, football and cricket. Sidney has won a number of championships, including Armed Forces past and present real tennis, past and present rackets and also inter-livery real tennis.
Sidney is a passionate skier and snowboarder and has skied on four continents - Queenstown, New Zealand, Killington, North America, Whistler, Canada, Niseko, Japan, and at various resorts in Europe, including Saint Moritz, Val Thorens, Méribel, Verbier, Courchevel, Val d’Isère and Chamonix.
Sidney has competed in off-shore yacht racing in Hong Kong and trekked in Northen China.
When Sidney was younger, Sidney played football for the Old Foresters Football Club and won the Arthur Dunn Cup (twice) as well as other cups. In the Arthurian League Sidney’s team won multiple championships and in one particular year won 100% of their league matches. Sidney has played for the Arthurian League representative team and has played against many semi-professional teams, as well as the Cambridge University Blues team and the University of London Representative team. Sidney has played matches at professional club stadia namely Boundary Park, Motspur Park, Highbury and Stamford Bridge.
Sidney has played ice hockey for many years, and won the South Chine Ice Hockey league in Hong Kong and was awarded a double Palatinate (full Durham University colours) for both ice hockey and football.
Sidney was selected to represent the Northen Universities at football and competed at the British University football tournament at Lilleshall National Sports Centre.
Sidney was elected as a councillor in May 2022 and was selected as a Parliamentary Candidate to stand in the July 2024 general election.
Sidney completed a short course in politics at the University of Oxford in 2023.
